We have loved living in Gilbert and have found some fun things to do around here. Trevor's favorite thing so far is a train park & museum in Scottsdale. There are several fun playgrounds, a building with tons of remote control trains, and of course a real train to ride. One of the remote control cars has Woody and Buzz and Trev sits and watches them go around for as long as we let him!
Our silly kids love to wear thick footy p.j.s, even when it's almost 80 degrees in our house at night.
Trevor is also obsessed with dogs. Anytime there is a dog outside, he drops whatever he is doing and runs over to pet it. I am definitely not a dog person and never plan on having one as a pet, but I'm sure it will be hard to resist my sweet boy as he gets older and starts to beg. Lyla who is terrified of dogs, has started asking if we can buy a puppy because she read a book about the turtle Franklin getting a pet. She's too smart and has good arguments "I've been taking care of my stuffed piggy for a long time. I'll take good care of my dog. I'll feed him and play with him and take him to the vet if he gets sick" Sure hope they are both happy with a fish, cuz that's all I'm for these days! :)
One night Paul was putting Trevor to bed and he was being a typical 2 yr old, so Paul just jumped in the crib with him. I walked into the room a few minutes later to find all three of them in there- pretending to such their thumbs like Trevor does all the time. So funny. Love my random family. And yes we still have our 2.5 yr old in a crib- and I plan on keeping him there until he's at least 3 cuz we had so many struggles when we put Lyla in a bed. She became an awful sleeper and has finally learned to stay in her bed all night in the last few nights. I'm not going to mess with the amazing sleeper that Trev is!
Oh how I love my sweet, squishable Kaylie! This peaceful expression shows her calm personality so well. She definitely has become very clingy lately and not as content as she used to be- she wants me to be holding her all the time so that gets a little tough, but I love cuddling with her. She has been awesome at solid foods- so much better than my first two were. She'll eat pretty much anything I give her except when she's sick (which unfortunately has been almost constantly for the last 6 weeks). She's almost 8 months now, but here are her 6 month stats:
Weight: 18 lbs 12 oz (89%)
Height: 26.75 in (76%)
Head: 44 cm (90%)
Her weight jumped up and her height dropped- haha I love her chunkiness. She just loves to eat- takes after her mom that way! She's a decent sleeper, working on cutting out the middle of the night feeding still but the sickness makes it difficult. I had her sleeping until between 5-7 before wanting to eat, but now she's pretty unpredictable and sometimes wakes as early as 2. We'll keep working on it though. She sits up really well and reaches for things when she's on her belly, but she hasn't tried crawling or scooting at all. Lyla and Trevor just adore Kaylie and it's so sweet to see them interact. Trevor is very protective of "Kaylie babe" and is always watching out for her and what she needs.
We loved going to the Gilbert Temple Open house in February. It was a beautiful day and we loved teaching our kids about how much we love the temples and what we do inside. There was a bit of a wait so by the time we got inside Trevor was obstinate and trying to run away, and Lyla was stomping loudly because she didn't like the white slippers they put on top of her pretty shoes. We tried several times to get a family picture but they just didn't want to cooperate.
After chasing Trevor half way down the line several times, they decided it would be fun to sit which was nice. Silly kiddos
We had a fun Valentine's day. We took the kids to a jump place which they loved! Later we went to a splash park because it was a perfect, warm day. That night we made heart shaped pizza and sugar cookies.
We were so blessed to move into a neighbor with several girls Lyla's age. These are her best buddies- they play almost daily and usually get along really well. They went to the zoo a few weeks ago and loved being together. I've gotten close with the moms- I'm so grateful that we immediately met good friends! It's so fun to plan things together with our families.
