Logan & old pictures

A few weeks ago my mom was staying in Logan while Cassidy went to Time out for Girls, so the kids and I went to stay with her for a few days. It was so nice to have time together when we were both away from home and could just focus on the kids and having fun together. We were actually able to finish conversations instead of always getting interrupted. The kids slept pretty well for being in a hotel room together and we even found a way to watch movies at night while they were sleeping. We went out to eat for dinners which was nice instead of having to cook!

We went on a long walk by the temple. It's such a gorgeous time of year there- we loved just walking around a lot.

Of course we had to make a stop at the creamery for huge ice cream cones. Lyla especially enjoyed it and ended up with chocolate all over her face, clothes, and the stroller.

After our time in Logan we ran down to Orem for a few days and hung out with Alyssa, and then brought her back with us to our house. Lyla was excited to have her fingernails and toenails painted.

Sweet cousin hugs before the big move to Seattle.

Cassidy came to visit in June and Lyla loved having her constant attention. She brought a darling dance dress that she wore when she was younger and Lyla wouldn't take it off for days.

We went to a Chukars baseball game sponsored by Melaleuca.

Grandma Rumsey bought this cute bike and chairs for Lyla- she still loves them!

Lyla kept putting Paul's hat on and checking herself out in the mirror.

Visit with Aunt Alyssa

We had our Alyssa come to stay for a whole week and we loved every minute!! I'm sure she was excited to leave so she could actually sleep in and not listen to screaming children for lots of the day, but it was so nice to have her around. She and Lyla had a blast together- they are great buddies! I loved having her here to chat with and she got me addicted to One Direction- we sang and danced to their songs over and over.
We went to the zoo with Lyla's good friends- Allie and Suzie. They got along so well and walked around holding hands. So sweet!

We're so grateful for good friends- it makes life so much easier to have friends there all along the way.

Since Alyssa is Lyla's dance role model, we made her go with us to buy some clothes for Lyla's dance class this fall. We went to a consignment store and Lyla insisted on trying everything on and dancing around for us. Such a little drama queen!!

Lyssa and I went to zumba twice when she was here and we had fun dancing and feeling ridiculous together. We must have been worn out from the week of fun because the second time we went, we thought we would die! Then of course we came right home and had a big bowl of ice cream.

We went with some friends to Rigby lake and enjoyed the nice water on a hot day. Summer time is when I really miss living by my parents and their amazing pool. Pretty sure we'd be swimming every day if we lived there!

Lyssa caught Trevor attacking Paul's face which he loves to do whenever he gets a chance. That boy is so full of energy and i'm sure will soon be into everything.

We went to the Melaleuca picnic which was extremely hot but very fun! Lyla enjoyed this swing ride but didn't want to do the other activities. Our favorite part was watching daddy ride the mechanical bull- more to come on that in another post!

9 months, Fourth of July, and more

The kiddos can barely make it until daddy gets home and then they love playing with him all evening until bedtime. Sometimes that's less than 30 minutes because of busy work and young mens, but we take what we can get! Lyla is always waiting by the door long before Paul gets off to make sure she's ready when he walks in, and the moment Trevor sees his Daddy his eyes light up and he kicks his legs- so excited to get into his arms!
Poor Trevor has to be such a good sport with an older sister to boss him around. He is frequently being dressed up in girly things and we've already had many chats on how boys don't paint their fingernails, or wear bows, or dresses. In case you can't tell, Lyla put her underwear (it was clean- fyi) on his head and she thought it was the funniest thing ever!
Watching Daddy juggle balls- Trevor kept laughing and laughing.
Since it's been so hot lately, we get our little pool out just about every day. Last week I told Lyla to go get her swimming suit on and she came out like this. She said she needed the hat to keep her hair from blowing into her eyes- silly girl.
We had a nail painting party and Lyla wanted to pamper me by painting my toes- (notice I didn't say she painted my toenails?)

We had a great Fourth of July this year and enjoyed spending all day as a family. We went to the parade and Lyla loved it! She couldn't believe that people kept throwing candy to her- she constantly talks about how we need to go back. She also got this necklace there and is so proud of it.

We then decided to go golfing on a short course. Paul's trying to get me into golf so he doesn't feel as guilty for golfing 3-6 times a week! :) He also is convinced that I need to start liking it so that when we're retired we can golf all day. I respond that he can golf while I'm visiting our grandkids. Anyway, I decided that I should be a good sport and go with him once. Lyla loved trying to hit the ball and then found a sucker and that kept her happy the rest of the time.

Trevor is now 9 months old and his stats are:
Height: 27 3/4 inches (30%), Weight: 19lbs 2 ounces (40%), Head: 46 1/4 cm (80%)

He has had a bad cold and sinus infection so he's been a bit miserable lately and I hate knowing that he's hurting. He's growing fast though- I can't believe he'll be 1 soon! He has suddenly learned to crawl in his own way- he does a swimming stroke and then he slams his head into the ground and drags his body along. He gets very determined when he wants something like my phone and he finds some way to get to it. He is pretty inconsistent with his naps but he goes to bed at 7:30 at night and usually just wakes up around 5:30 to eat, then sleeps til 7-8. Swimming is one of his favorite activities these days. We love our little guy!
