Happy Halloween and a FUN visit from Grandma!

We had the best visit from Grandma Rumsey last week and are already missing her so much! She was such a good sport to play with the kids all day, dance at Lyla's request, and even go to zumba with me. We looked forward to her visit for months so it was hard to see the time go by so quickly, but we're excited for the next time we get to spend with her, whenever that may be.

 The weather was really nice on Halloween when Sue arrived, so we went to Lyla's favorite park and let the kids play and play. It's been so nice to have gorgeous weather lately and I appreciate every day, knowing that we could be freezing and have snow at this time of the year.

This girl loves to slide!! She and Grandma had fun coming of with new ways to go down.

Grandma was so much fun to be with on Halloween! She got all dressed up to go trick or treating with Lyla for the first time- our little witch was so excited!!

Let's just say Trevor wasn't as excited to be our little cow-boy. Haha- I just loved his costume though so I made him wear it a few times.

Daddy kept up our tradition of a princess jack o lantern. He stayed up late into the night carving Sleeping Beauty at Lyla's request.

We went to a Halloween party so decided we'd better find some costumes. We remembered our Pebbles and BamBam costumes from 4 years ago and decided to try pulling that off again.

  So much has changed from 4 years ago, we definitely look seem tired and less lively now :)

While Grandma was here, she had a little birthday party for all of us since we usually aren't together for birthdays. She was so cute and had us each blow out candles and open presents.

We didn't have the right candles- so Paul had 26 plus a 1 candle to get to 27...

Cute naked baby! Trevor seems to be losing some of his chubbiness and getting taller.

This is still Trev's favorite position. he loves sucking his thumb and holding his hair. His poor thumb is all dried and cracking because he sucks it so much.

Lyla and Grandma had fun making some yummy sugar cookies. Lyla rolled them out and cut them out all by herself and was very proud of using her little rolling pin.

Grandma put on a puppet show with the animal puppets I made and Lyla LOVED it. She thought it was hilarious when Grandma would do the voices

This is Lyla a little over a year ago. I just can't believe how much she's grown up in the last year!

Life lately

During the last week of nice weather, I suddenly felt that we hadn't sufficiently enjoyed being outside in warm weather. Paul had a lighter week at work so we spent every evening outside. We went to a fun park that has a frisbee golf course and Lyla LOVED throwing frisbees around. 

 

 We threw a baby shower for our darling Alisha and it was so fun!! Of course my mom did an amazing job with the food like usual. I let Lyla stay up with us for the shower and she was so excited all day as we got ready, talking about Alisha's "birthday" party that she was invited to.

After the shower, we went to St George for a few days to relax. We got together with Jarilyn & John and Karen's cute family to celebrate Grandma Payne's birthday. We had a yummy ice cream cake that I'm sure she would have loved!!

We hiked around on the red rocks above the temple and Lyla had a blast climbing and walking around. It was such a pretty day- warm but not too hot. I'm definitely gonna miss being warm over the next several months!

Love these two!! I love every minute that I get to hang out with Ty and Alyssa and they are constantly making me laugh. They are so willing to help with my kids and so concerned about my life and how I'm doing.

We went for a fun bike ride and my dad was so sweet to pull both kids. Lyla was a little hesitant to get into the bike trailer until I called it Cinderella's carriage. After that she loved it! Trevor just sat sucking his thumb and holding onto his favorite toy of the week- a tub of chapstick. Love my crazy, darling kids!

Trevor is 1!!

I seriously can't believe that my baby is one!! This first year went so much faster than it did with Lyla for some reason. We had a fun birthday celebration for him. Here's the birthday boy sitting with his blue balloons that he loved chasing around!

Lyla has been so excited for his birthday and has been talking about it for weeks. It was sweet to see her focusing on him although of course there were moments when she tried to steal the show.

 Lyla had a little date with daddy to make the cake and then I had fun decorating. My sweet angel! I love how he puts his arm around me and holds on so tight when I hold him.

 I used a ton of gel food color to get the frosting red enough for the barn so Trevor had red lips and hands all night. He enjoyed eating and playing with his cake- he was definitely more willing to get messy than Lyla was at his age!

He got a Thomas set that will be fun especially as he gets a little older. Lyla loves it for sure!! We invited some friends to be our family for the night and join us for cake and presents and it was really fun to have them with us.

Trevor is growing and changing every day! He still hasn't had the desire to attempt a step on his own but loves walking around while we hold his hands. He loves to click his tongue and crawls all over the house clicking away. He likes books, especially animal books and calls every animal "dog!" Anytime we go into our basement he reaches up for the swing and begs until we put him in it. He's very content there for awhile, but only if we stay right there pushing him. If we walk away he gets upset until we're back. Unlike Lyla who is still scared of the vacuum, he follows it around as I clean the house and tries to touch it. He's my little snuggler- if I lay on the floor or on my bed he'll crawl all around me playing and then come racing and crash into me. He'll lay on me for a few minutes, just sucking his thumb and holding on to me. Those are my favorite moments!
